Great article with intriguing insights! I agree with you on the cynicism of Bitcoin/cyrpto investors(speculators?). 10 years of constant promises that it will change the internet and economy forever has gotten old. At this point, you are swimming against a cult craze that will expire itself eventually. Keep up the great posts!

Compelling! But I have to disagree with how crypto is framed here, as an extension to Bitcoin’s cynical view. Optimism in crypto goes beyond price action exuberance, but you’d have to look at projects that came after Bitcoin to see it. There is real excitement and engineering work being done to build a new internet layer, the fruits of which will come later than the hype suggests but much earlier than “never”. It just so happens that it’s very entertaining and straightforward to use this technology for gambling and entertainment, we have stories of overnight billionaires fueling some reckless behavior, and the lack of regulation and level of consumer access to the tech has much of the mainstream participants vulnerable to predators. I think this improves over the years, eventually culminating in what will look in hindsight like a no-brainer investment theme, perhaps the ultimate generational opportunity. But I’m clearly biased.
